HOW TO USE THE SAS AUCTION SITE
1. REGISTER
Once you are an SAS Member, you can register to the SAS Auction Site by clicking on the SAS Auction Site tab and then click on Login to SAS Auction Site. You will be directed to the SAS Auction Site Registration/ Sign In page. Click on Registration at the top right of your screen and fill in your information.
2. EDIT PERSONAL DATA
You can change your password and other personal information. After you sign into the Auction Site, click on Personal Information and input the changes you want to make. When finished, type in your password or new password TWICE and then press Save Changes.
3. START SEARCHING FOR YOUR CAR AT THE AUCTIONS
A. Click on Auto Auctions and then click on Advanced Search.
Select the Make and Model of the car you are looking for and input the Year and any other information to narrow your search.
B. You can also select additional information such as Color, Auction Grade, etc. If you want to search for your car at a specific auction, press on the “Auctions” button in the middle of the screen to open a list of all the auctions in Japan.
HELPFUL TIP: These are optional search criteria to narrow your search. You do not have to select a specific color, auction grade, etc.
C. When you press the Auctions button, you will see a list of all the auctions in Japan separated by the day of the week. You can click on an individual auction or you can click on the day of the week to select all the auctions on that specific day. When you are done, press “Search” to start the search.
HELPFUL TIP : If you do not select any specific auction, it will automatically search all the auctions.
D. When you press the Search button, you will see a list of cars that match your search criteria. The total number of cars that match your search criteria is shown at the very top. To see the auction sheet, more photos and the details of the car, click on the photo of the car.
4. VIEW DETAILS, AUCTION SHEET AND PHOTOS OF THE CAR
The date and name of the auction along with the auction # of the car can be seen at the very top. You can click on the auction sheet and photos of the car to expand them. All other detailed information can be seen below the photos.
5. SEARCH FOR THE MANUFACTURE DATE OF THE CAR
To find out the manufacture date of the car, scroll down to Date of Production and select the manufacturer. Then enter the chassis # and click on FIND.
6. SAVE YOUR FAVORITES
A. When you find a car that you like and want to save the car’s information, go to the Add to Favourites box on the right and click on one of the boxes (for example List A). You can save multiple cars in the same list.
B. To view the cars in your Favourites List, click on Favourites (next to “Advanced Search”) and then click on the List you want to see (e.g., List A).
7. SEND YOUR FAVORITES TO SAS
You can send the list of the vehicles in your favorites to SAS with one click. Open the Favourites List (e.g., List A) and press the Send Favourites to SAS button.
HELPFUL TIP : If you have a list of vehicles you want to discuss with the SAS staff, send us your list and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have about those cars.
8. REMOVE VEHICLES FROM YOUR FAVORITES LIST
To remove vehicles from your list of favorites, open the Favourites List (e.g., List A) and check the box on the very left of the car you want to delete. Then click on the Remove Lots button. You can delete multiple cars at one time by checking more than one box.
9. SAVE YOUR SEARCH CRITERIA
If you know that you are going to search for the same vehicle many times, you can save time by saving the search criteria in the My Search box at the bottom of the Advanced Search page. Fill in your search criteria as per the instructions in section 3 above. Then enter a name for your search criteria, for example “Allion”. Then press the Save button. Next time you want to search for the same car, you just select the saved search criteria and press “Search”. You don’t need to enter all the information again.
HELPFUL TIP : If you have not paid an auction deposit, you can save one search criteria. If you have paid a deposit, you can save up to ten different search criteria.
10. DELETE YOUR SEARCH CRITERIA
To delete the search criteria you saved, go to the the My Search box, select the search name and then click on Delete. You can then save a new search criteria by following the directions in #8 above.
11. CHANGE TO “DEALER” STATUS
When SAS receives your auction deposit, your status on the SAS Auction Site will change to “Dealer” and you will be able to place a bid for any vehicle. There are also many useful features that you can use as a “Dealer” on the SAS Auction Site.
First, please confirm that your status has been changed to “Dealer” by checking the following…
At the top of the page, you should see two new tabs called Auto Catalog and Bids.
When you search for a vehicle and go to the page where you can see the details of the unit, you should see that the “Inquiry” button has changed to a Send Bid button.
12. PLACE A BID ON A VEHICLE
A. When you have found the vehicle that you want to purchase, you can place a bid by inputting the maximum C&F US$ value that you are willing to go up to. If you have any comments or questions, you can input it in the Message box. When you are ready to place the bid, press the Send Bid button.
B. As soon as you have pressed the Send Bid button, a message will pop up asking you to confirm the price you entered. Press OK and your bid will be placed. If you want to change the price or cancel the bid, press Cancel.
13. CHECK YOUR BID STATUS/UPDATE OR CANCEL YOUR BID
After pressing the OK button to confirm your bid price, you will see a page with the words “Bid is accepted”on the top left of your screen. This confirms that your bid has been placed. If you want to change your bid price, click on Update. If you want to cancel your bid, click on Cancel Bid.
HELPFUL TIP : You will also receive an email from SAS confirming that we have received instructions to bid on a vehicle for you. Your bid needs to be placed before 8AM Japan time of the day of the auction in order to allow our staff to confirm the information.
You can also check your bid status by clicking on Bids at the top or bottom of your screen. All the cars you have placed a bid on will appear in a list. Information such as date of auction, time, name of auction, auction bid #, and basic information about the car will be visible. To change or cancel the bid, you can click on the auction bid # and then follow the instructions above.
14. RECEIVE AN EMAIL WHEN A VEHICLE MATCHING YOUR SEARCH CRITERIA IS FOUND
Once you have paid an auction deposit, you can save up to 10 different search criteria. You can also elect to receive email notifications when a car that meets your search criteria is coming up at an auction.
If you know that you are going to search for the same vehicle many times, you can save time by saving up to 10 search criteria in the My Search box at the bottom of the Advanced Search page. If you want to receive an email notification when the vehicle that meets your search criteria comes up, click the box next to “Receive email notification of suitable cars twice a day” and then click Save to save the search criteria.
HELPFUL TIP : Don’t spend so much time searching for cars. Let the SAS Auction Site do the work for you and notify you by email!
15. USE THE AUTO CATALOG TO FIND OUT THE SPECIFICATIONS OF ANY CAR
A full list of all the different Allion models and grades will be visible. You can click on any grade or model to see a full specification of the unit. To compare the A18 model #ZRT265 with model #ZRT260, locate the units in the list and click on Add.
15. Once you have paid an auction deposit, you will have access to the SAS Auto Catalog. The Auto Catalog is a very powerful tool that will allow you to be an expert on the specifications of all cars, models and grades.
To begin using the Auto Catalog, click on the Auto Catalog tab at the top or bottom of your screen. You will then see a list of major auto manufacturers from all over the world.
For example, if you wanted to compare the specifications of a Toyota Allion grade A18 model #ZRT265 with model #ZRT260, you would first click on “Toyota”.
A full list of all the different Allion models and grades will be visible. You can click on any grade or model to see a full specification of the unit. To compare the A18 model #ZRT265 with model #ZRT260, locate the units in the list and click on Add.
The cars you select will appear in the Compare List at the top of your screen. Once you have finished selecting all the cars you want to compare, click on Compare.
A list of detailed specifications for the models you are comparing will be visible side by side. Every spec that is different will be highlighted in red.
